Front End Development Post Graduate Full Time Internship - Paid - Pittsburgh Steelers (Pittsburgh, PA)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The role of the Front End Development Intern is to assist and support the Steelers Technology Department in the maintenance and development of hardware, software and other systems. The intern will work with our applications developer and bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks and potentially how it works. Responsibilities for the position include assisting in the identification, research and resolution of user technology issues in regards to printers/computer/phones as well as assisting in the front end development of various in-house applications.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop new user-facing features for in-house web applications.

• Build reusable code and libraries for future use.

• Assisting in the creation and maintenance of custom applications.

• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs

• Responding to and handling the organizations Help Desk calls to completion.

• Backing up, imaging, and re-imaging PC’s.

• Assisting with the support of hardware and software issues as they arise.

• Assist in hardware and software inventory.

• Plan, design and implement special projects at the direction of IT Staff.

• Other Duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

• Knowledge and experience with the following:

  • Adobe Suite of Products
    • Photoshop, illustrator, InDesign, etc.
  • .NET framework, C#, ASP.NET development, Entity Framework, SQL Server

•Ability to build websites out of HTML/CSS/Javascript/JQuery using best coding practices

•Familiarity with Visual Studio, .Net Framework, C#, and ASP.Net MVC

•Understanding of front-end web architecture and front end data-binding in particular AngularJS and Bootstrap.

•Basic knowledge of PC Hardware and troubleshooting hardware failures.

•Experience with Microsoft Office suite of applications.

•Experience supporting Microsoft Windows and Apple OSX/macOS.

•Be detail oriented and have good communication skills.

•Basic knowledge of computer networks (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS) and Wi-Fi.

•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Web Development or a related field with a strong technical background.

•Self-starter needing little direction. Flexible and able to handle multiple tasks concurrently while meeting aggressive deadlines.

•Excellent analytical and problem solving skills and a desire to learn and implement new technologies.

Job Summary

The role of the Assistant Manager is supporting the Store Manager in managing the daily operations of the store. The assistant manager will work with the Store Manager ensuring our customer service, store policies and day to day operations are upheld to our standards.

Job Summary:

The role of the Floor Manager is to perform the Manager on Duty for supervision in the absence of Store management. The Floor Manager will work with the Store Manager and Assistant Manager ensuring our customer service, store policies and day to day operations are upheld to our standards.

Public Relations Intern - Paid/Full Time/Post Graduate - Pittsburgh Steelers (Pittsburgh, PA)

Public Relations Internship Summary:

The Public Relations Intern will assist the Media Relations department in its day-to-day operations throughout the year in a variety of assignments.

Public Relations Intern Duties:

  • Compile and distribute daily news clips for front office personnel.
  • Record and transcribe press conferences and interviews.
  • Set up equipment for press conferences.
  • Prepare, write and edit materials for the media guide, gameday program, game notes and season in review.
  • Facilitate information between the department and design/printing companies for publications.
  • Write and disseminate press releases and media advisories as assigned.
  • Update the team’s roster files, player biographies, statistical information and cross-check statistics on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Distribute the daily media schedule to members of the department and ensure the Facilities Coordinator is aware of rooms being used.
  • Assist with supervision of open locker media sessions and practice sessions open to the media.
  • Coordinate interview requests with players and assistant coaches as assigned.
  • Create and edit the flip card for all home games in coordination with opposing team’s PR department.
  • Responsible for bringing all gameday materials from the facility to the stadium the day prior to the game and for transportation of department’s gameday staff to the stadium on gameday.
  • Serve as the gameday sideline media coordinator, reporting all injuries to the Director of Communications in the press box for all home games.
  • Contribute written materials for Steelers.com.
  • Assist in developing talking points on NFL and team-related issues.
  • Assist the department during crisis communications.
  • Monitor social media (players and media) for all Steelers and NFL related topics.
  • Work the duration of Steelers training camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa.

Intern Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism or related field.
  • Prior experience in sports communication, including internships with PR, sports information or journalism.
  • In-depth knowledge of professional football and sports media.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to interact with a variety of people in the organization (staff and players) and media, all in a professional manner.
  • Organized, detail-oriented and a positive self-starter who works well with others.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through while asking questions when needed.
  • Ability to set up equipment for press conferences and game day requiring light to medium lifting.
  • Proficiency and familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and Adobe programs (InDesign).

Duration/Hours: Full-Time Year-Round (In-Season: approx. 40-60 hours/week; off-season: approx. 40 hours/week). Must be available weekends during the season and in the off-season as needed.

Reports To: Director of Communications; Public Relations/Media Manager; Public Relations Assistant
