Overview:

Provide assistance through data entry, analysis, and any other CRM/Database initiatives that will have a direct impact on the organization.  This person will learn a great deal through time sensitive projects related to database cleanliness, professional sport franchise business processes, and CRM best practices.

The Washington Redskins Communications Department offers summer, season-long and spring internships. The internships are designed for either undergraduate or graduate students and are unpaid positions. All candidates must be able to receive course credit for the internship.   • Work alongside the Executive Chef and Sous Chef in preparing dishes for each meal service
  • Follow through on daily prep and/or production list that are given for the day and double check any items that may be below or not up to given standards
  • Keep up on all cleaning and preventative maintenance list and follow up with Executive Chef if something appears out of ordinary
  • Work alongside Executive and Sous Chef in maintaining storage and walk ins so the product is put away and rotated following FIFO standard
  • Ensure that anything produced from a production sheet is labeled and put in appropriate place
  • Make sure that any item that is prepared in the kitchen is prepared in accordance with given food safety standards and follow only the highest standards
  • Keep station organized for speed of service and place prep items to be used in cold reach ins
  • Keep all storage areas organized and up to date following a FIFO standard and basic food service handling
  • Maintain uniform standards and follow scheduled in times

The Washington Redskins are seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual to support the Digital Media department as an intern, with the primary focus on the Redskins Rally program, which actively engages and promotes displaced fan groups and Redskins bars across the nation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Management of Redskins Rally program database, including bar and fan groups locations and contact information
  • Updating event and bar listings on RedskinsRally.com to assure all information is accurate and up-to-date
  • Editing of content and design of subpages on RedskinsRally.com, including individual bar pages, photo and media galleries
  • Manage and monitor spam and commenting modules on RedskinsRally.com
  • Daily communication with fan groups, bar managers and fans via phone and email – serve as main POC for fan groups and bars
  • Oversee merchandise planning and ordering, including deliveries to bars and fans
  • Maintain inventory of giveaways and merchandise
  • Sourcing new bar leads from RedskinsRally.com, social media, and Redskins fan sites
  • Cold calling bars to invite them to enroll in the Rally program, confirm bar information and get program feedback
  • Assist with other duties as necessary

Job Responsibilities:

  • Daily editing of content and design of subpages on Redskins.com and other Redskins microsites including RedskinsPremiumClub.com, RedskinsSpecialEvents.com, RedskinsHealthandWellness.com, and RedskinsKidsClub.com

Seasonal Communications Intern - Washington Redskins (Ashburn, VA)

The Washington Redskins Communications Department offers season-long internships.  The internships are designed for either undergraduate or graduate students and are unpaid positions.  All candidates must be able to receive course-credit for the internship.  The intern will have the opportunity to learn about the responsibilities of a National Football League communications staff while working as a member of the department and assisting in its day-to-day functions. 

            Interns must be able to work extended hours including some nights and weekends.  A background in public/media relations or sports management is strongly encouraged.  Candidates must possess strong written and oral communication skills.  The intern will be required to participate in a mandatory background check and drug testing at the beginning of the internship. 

 

Fall Internship Responsibilities (August – December)

 

  • Aid in facilitation and coordination of player and coach interviews.
  • Help with production and editing of the team’s media guide, weekly release and various publications.
  • Facilitate various requests by media members for information, statistics, etc.
  • Assist in distribution of credentials on a daily basis well as for home games.
  • Oversee daily newspaper clips and their distribution.
  • Assist in transcribing and distribution of daily quotes.
  • Monitor player interviews during open locker room.
  • Maintain the media room at Redskins Park, keeping it fully stocked with updated team information.
  • Assist with preseason and home games.
  • Prepare press box for game day.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Communications staff.

The Washington Redskins are seeking qualified individuals to join the Community Relations/Charitable Foundation Department as an intern. The individual will have the opportunity to learn about the responsibilities of a National Football League Community Relations Department and Charitable Foundation by working as a member of the team and assisting in its day-to-day operations.

The ideal candidate will be able to receive college credit for a year-long internship experience; however, exceptional applicants only available for one semester internships will still be considered.

 

Internship Responsibilities

Assisting in the coordination and implementation of Charitable Foundation and Community Relations Department programs and events including, but not limited to:

·         Assist in the planning, coordination and promotion of multiple high-profile events including but not limited to the Redskins 56th annual Welcome Home Luncheon, the only time the entire Redskins organization gathers for a single event off the field and the Foundation’s largest event, and the Redskins Runway Show.

·         Assist with the development, marketing and promotion, and ultimately the execution of numerous fundraising initiatives including but not limited to the Redskins Breast Cancer Awareness t-shirt campaign and Redskins License Plate program.

·         Manage specific aspects of the Foundation’s 50/50 Raffle program during the planning process ahead of the 2017 season including but not limited to developing a marketing and promotion plan, hiring of gameday staff, coordinating with volunteer groups, and much more. 

·         Manage all event Silent Auctions including strategy development, marketing and promotion, and management of item procurement through relationship building with local businesses and organizations.

·         Aid the Development team in designing new communication strategies including but not limited to the Foundation’s social media presence (Twitter and Instagram) and e-newsletter platforms.

  • Support the Development team in the execution of Foundation sponsorship contracts including print advertising, special events, hospitality and in-game promotion.

·         Work directly with the Director of Special Events on business development.

·         Manage select event vendor relationships on behalf of the Foundation.

·         Write articles for team publications.
