2016 Washington Redskins Public Relations Gameday Staff - Washington Redskins (Landover, MD)

The Washington Redskins Communications Department offers public relations gameday staff positions. The intern will have the opportunity to learn about the responsibilities of a National Football League public relations staff while working as a member of the department and assisting in its gameday functions in the press box at FedExField.

            A background in public/media relations or sport management is strongly encouraged. Candidates must possess strong written and oral communication skills.

Gameday Staff Responsibilities (ALL 2016 home Redskins games)

  • Assist with ALL preseason, regular season and postseason home games.
  • Facilitate various requests by media members for information, statistics, etc.
  • Assist in distribution of credentials and statistics.
  • Assist in transcribing and distribution of post-game press conferences and quotes.
  • Monitor player interviews.
  • Maintain the press box at FedExField, keeping it fully stocked with updated team information.
  • Prepare press box for game day.
  • Research statistical information for management, coaches, scouts and internal department as needed.

Gameday Staff Requirements:

·         Must attend ALL preseason, regular season and postseason home games.

·         Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.

·         Strong writing skills.

·         Detail-oriented and organized.

·         Can work independently when given a task and have the focus to follow through & follow-up if problems arise.

Are you a friendly, high-energy person that can start a conversation with anyone?

The Washington Redskins are looking for enthusiastic individuals to sell 50/50 Raffle tickets to Redskins fans at home games at FedExField to benefit the Redskins Charitable Foundation.

This position requires an outgoing personality as sellers will be asked to approach fans attending the game to purchase 50/50 raffle tickets, all to help make a difference in the community.

This is a paid, part-time seasonal position. Cash bonus incentives are given to exceptional sellers each home game.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

¾  Approach fans to spread awareness of 50/50 raffle program and the Washington Redskins Charitable

Foundation

¾  Sell 50/50 raffle tickets to fans pre-game and/or in-game

¾  Handle large amounts of money and electronic transactions

¾  Accurately handle the sale and distribution of the tickets

The Washington Redskins are seeking qualified individuals to join the Corporate Hospitality Department as a Client Services Intern. The right individual will be able to work as part of a team or individually.

·      Assist with the planning and executing of Washington Redskin Suite Owner and/or prospect events.

·      Maintain methods of organization and communication throughout the office, by properly labeling folders and binders, circulating contracts, updating the current suite listing/availability charts, etc.

·      Assist with the distribution of contractual gifts and update the Suites/Hospitality inventory spread sheet

(reorganization of gift storage facility may also be occasionally needed).

·      Attend Redskins-related special events, including networking events, at Redskin Park and FedExField held throughout the semester (fall semester – expected to attend and help out during each home game).

·      Attend all Redskins home games – assist with game-day prep and visiting clients

·      Photograph and organize pictures taken at each Redskins-related event.

·      Call current and/or prospective clients to arrange and confirm meetings and/or event attendance.

·      Assist in answering phones and taking down messages at any point in time – especially when full-time staff are absent from desk/attending meetings, etc.

·      Utilize the Redskins’ FedEx online account to create labels for shipping client gifts, ticket packages, etc.

·      Assist with creating and facilitating mail merges/blast emails to reach current and prospective clients.

Time Requirements:

·      Full time is preferred (M-F).  9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

·      Part time availability would be considered for 20-25 hours per week; additional work required on weekends /nights contingent upon game and event schedule.  (Note: Fall interns must be available to work on game days.)

The Washington Redskins Photography Department offers summer, season-long and spring internships.  The internships are designed for either undergraduate or graduate students and are unpaid positions.  All candidates must be able to receive course-credit for the internship.  The intern will have the opportunity to learn about the responsibilities of a National Football League communications staff while working as a member of the department and assisting in its day-to-day functions.

Summer Internship Responsibilities (August - January)

  • Photographing practices, games, team events as well as “behind-the-scenes” opportunities around the team facility and at the stadium.
  • Help with editing photos through Adobe Creative Cloud software and other similar programs.
  • Helping the team photographer with all photo shoot requests, including equipment needs and set up (lighting/backdrops/scenery, etc.)
  • Assisting with the management of team’s photo archive, including the sorting of all shots into the digital photo drive, as well as the scanning and cataloging of historical photos.
  • Working hand-in-hand with the public relations, digital media and marketing departments to fulfill any needs

The Washington Redskins are seeking a creative and qualified individual to support the Digital Media department as an intern, with the primary focus on social media platforms.

The right individual must take great pride in their work and pay strong attention to detail. Applicant must have a strong understanding of social media platforms and digital trends. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, while keeping organized and maintaining high standards in all work. Needs to be able to work as part of a team or individually.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily content and fan engagement on various Redskins social media sites, including: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, YouTube, Vine, Pinterest, Snapchat and Reddit.
  • Manage and monitor spam and commenting modules on social sites, as well as initiate fan discussion and engage with fans on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Conceptualize and research creative ways to improve the Redskins social media platforms and integration on Redskins.com and other team microsites. Assist in the dissemination of Redskins breaking news and team updates across all social channels, including mobile platforms.
  • Assist with the management of sponsored content, fan contests and promotions, including providing analytic reports and archiving database records.
  • Help to identify Redskins fan groups, contribute content to Redskins Rally, and participate through various social media platforms.
  • Manage and update various sections of the Redskins website including Health & Wellness, Schedule, Events, Photo Galleries and other pages.
  • Documenting various Redskins events through photography and film, and uploading pictures, videos and blog content onto Redskins.com and other social sites.
  • Track and monitor success of online initiatives using various analytic tools to produce daily, weekly and monthly reports to find areas for improvement.
  • Researching potential vendors for the Redskins to partner with for future social media engagements.
  • Assist with other duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding of social media platforms and how the Redskins desire to be branded in the online space.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Detail-oriented and strong organization and project management skills.
  • Polite, positive, self-starter who works well with others.
  • Must possess superior writing skills and editorial judgment.
  • Strong knowledge of sports and football.

Special Events Intern Fall 2016 - Washington Redskins (Ashburn, VA)

The Washington Redskins are seeking qualified individuals to join the Community Relations/Charitable Foundation Department as an intern. The individual will have the opportunity to learn about the responsibilities of a National Football League Community Relations Department and Charitable Foundation by working as a member of the team and assisting in its day-to-day operations.

It is preferable that the intern is able to start on or around August 22, 2016, however this date is flexible. Candidate MUST be able to work at least 40 hours a week. Exceptional applicants will have the opportunity to extend their internship through the off-season season until May 5, 2017.

Internship Responsibilities

·    Aid in overall strategic planning and marketing for the Redskins Charitable Foundation

·    Assist in the detailed coordination and execution of high-profile fundraising events with a primary focus on the 55th Annual Welcome Home Luncheon, Redskins Runway Show, Community Man of the

Year event, and more

·    Assist in the planning of various fundraising initiatives including but not limited to the in-game

50/50 Raffle, and the Breast Cancer Awareness t-shirt campaign

·    Work directly with the Director of Special Events on numerous projects

·    Develop a silent auction strategy and manage item procurement for onsite silent auctions at major events as well as one-time online auctions primarily through building relationships with local

businesses and organizations

·    Assist with marketing and digital media elements as they relate to fundraising initiatives

·    Assist the Community Relations team with programming events focusing on Play 60, Redskins Read, holiday events, etc. as needed

·    Manage select vendor relationships on behalf of the Foundation

·    Aid the Development Team in updating Donor Management System

·    Management of various fundraising channels

·    Write articles for team publications

Responsibilities Description:

Time Requirements:

·       Full time is preferred (M-F). 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

·      Part time availability would be considered for 20-25 hours per week; additional work required on weekends / nights contingent upon game and event schedule.  (Note: Fall interns must be available to work on game days.)

Responsibilities List May Include But Not Limited To:

·         Discover new prospects through Newspapers, Journals, Magazines, and Event Lists.

·         Help maintain and update current and prospective client database including personal and professional information.

·         Maintain and update the Suites/Hospitality memorabilia inventory storage room.

·         Attend networking events at Redskins Park and FedExField.

·         If necessary help with the execution of Washington Redskins home games or special events hosted at FedExField.

·         Help with the contacting of prospects to arrange and confirm meetings and/or event attendance. 

·         Draft letters to company executives who view our website in order to follow up on their expressed

·         interest.

·         Combine all created lead lists into the master lead list to ensure that prospects are always followed up with.

·         Help with answering the phone and taking messages while full time staff members are in meetings.

·         Students will use our Archtics program to assist with looking up client accounts for ticketing information and invoicing purposes.

·         Help with the FedEx shipping of client gifts, ticket packages, and memorabilia.

·         Assist in hosting prospect meetings at FedExField to allow individuals to visit and tour suites.

·         Help with creating mail and email merges in order to reach current clients and prospects.

·         Student will also help with researching contact information for any prospective clients or referrals.

Overview:
