AV Production Intern - Fall 2015 - Kansas City Chiefs (Kansas City, MO)

This is an unpaid fall 2015 internship with 65 Toss Power Trap Productions, the in-house production arm of the Kansas City Chiefs, responsible for broadcast, episodic television programming, internet content, in-house company projects, spots, and the in-stadium show. The person selected will assist the department with a wide variety of audio and video projects. This intern must have audio/video production experience.

Our HD stadium and television shows, and new ventures in online video programming have taken on tremendous upgrades in philosophy and equipment, and we are eager to keep the ball rolling with young energetic, artistic talent thirsty for experience.  We give all interns real world, in-the-trenches experience, opportunities to enhance the department, and great referrals when we see them go.  Production intern will shoot video, log, archive, and edit football content and features, and assist in Arrowhead’s control room show.  This intern is a functional part of our team and must be coachable to learn proven award-winning philosophies in production.  Travel is sometimes necessary and always reimbursed.  Approximately 40 hours a week with flexible scheduling.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Produce/shoot/edit video elements to be used in-stadium, TV and/or Internet.
2. Assist in the maintenance of Arrowhead Production equipment.
3. Shoot, log, and archive football footage.
4. Projects include: Cheerleader events, local stories, football plays, web video edits and graphics, football practices and press conferences (with the NFL Network) and 10 home football games at Arrowhead Stadium.

1. Video Production Experience including Writing, Non-Linier Editing (Avid/Final Cut), Camera Operation, Lighting and Audio Set Up.
2. Knowledge of After Effects and Photoshop and/or other relevant Multimedia software preferred.
3. Knowledge QuickTime, MPEG and various audio files (mp3/.wav) preferred.
4. Demonstrate strong creative skills that can be applied to TV, In-Stadium and Internet production applications.
5. Must be a willing and able team player, ready to learn new concepts and processes, and willing to travel for shoots when necessary.
6. Must be able to shoot video. We can train. DSLR/Panasonic P2 cameras a plus.
7. Strong organizational and communication skills.

JOB SUMMARY: This is an unpaid, year-long 2015 internship with the Chiefs Digital Media Department.  By following industry, league and fan trends, and by having a deep knowledge of the NFL platform, this intern will be able to recommend and execute best practices in our digital and social media presence.  The person selected will assist the department with a wide variety of projects.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assist with CMS (content management system) to post and schedule content.

Cheerleader Intern:

The Cheerleading Intern will gain valuable hands-on experience while working with the Chiefs Cheerleader Director.  This internship provides exposure to areas such as special events, merchandise sales and inventory, recruitment events, registration and youth programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The main focus for the fall semester will be home football games.
  • Organize Ambassador Cheerleader’s game day schedule.
  • Organize pre-game appearances.
  • Organize the Junior Chiefs Cheerleader Program and communicate information about upcoming events to members.  
  • Organize and communicate information about Spirit Day.
  • Keep track of calendar grid on inventory and credits.
  • Maintain Cheerleader appearance schedule.
  • Track cheerleader merchandise inventory.
  • Research different pricing and companies when needed.
  • Assist/plan/market/advertise numerous cheerleader special events throughout the year (Spirit Day, Dance Studio Day, etc.).

Chiefs Alumni Relations and Youth Football Intern:

This internship will be composed of planning, coordinating and supervising the team’s youth football initiatives as well as its alumni activities. The intern will be expected to exercise proper initiative and judgment in the supervision of all youth football and alumni initiatives, as well as all other departmental outreach events. Outreach, marketing, communication, leadership and organization are all important elements within this internship.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, evaluate, and coordinate practices, games, and special events on the Youth Football Field facility.
  • Enforce safety rules, schedule field and assure compliance of insurance, health and safety codes.
  • Help facilitate the Chiefs Coach of the Week and Coach of the Year programs, as well as other youth football programing.
  • Help to manage and coordinate Chiefs Ambassador meetings, appearances and annual Ambassador Golf Tournament.
  • Assist in other alumni initiatives.
  • Track and manage media coverage of Chiefs Community Caring Team initiatives.
  • Respond and coordinate daily to donation/appearance requests.

Chiefs Community Outreach Intern:

This internship will be composed of interacting with various members of the Kansas City Chiefs organization in regards to community outreach efforts and appearances. In addition, the intern will aid in responding, planning and coordinating appearances tied to local charitable causes and will be working closely with non-profit organizations. Outreach, marketing, communication, leadership and organization are all important elements within this internship.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as a liaison and representative for the Kansas City Chiefs with community groups.
  • Assist the Community Relations Manager in development, recommendation and implementation of goals and policies.
  • Support members of the Chiefs Community Caring Team in regards to outreach appearances.
  • Aid in the planning and execution of community outreach initiatives.
  • Work in unison with the team’s Communications and Digital Media Departments to pitch and promote community outreach programming.
  • Track and manage media coverage of Chiefs Community Caring Team initiatives
  • Respond and coordinate daily to donation/appearance requests.
  • Assist with mailings and other distributions.

Corporate Partnerships Intern:
The Corporate Partnerships Intern will learn from the corporate partnerships team to research, support the prospecting process, help develop pitches, and learn the process behind partnership activation.  The intern will gain hands-on experience in professional sports marketing and business development.  In addition to other tasks, the intern will assist in the design, development and execution of intense marketing presentations for high-end decision-makers from prospective and current partners, interact with key executives and decision-makers from prestigious local, national and international companies and learn the process of the creation, measurement, and communication of the value provided by an association with the Kansas City Chiefs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead generation – researching key corporate partnerships prospects, finding high level contact information and following up with sales managers on these leads.
  • Monitor national, regional, and local sponsorship activity – stay current with new deals from other NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL teams and leagues as well as maintain an awareness of current climate in the national sponsorship space.
  • Chiefs Gameday - Corporate partnerships fulfillment, VIP hospitality, sponsor entertainment and in game promotional assistance.
  • Current corporate partnerships support – assistance in activation of current partnerships, including ticket fulfillment, gift deliveries, entertainment tracking, etc.
  • Corporate Partnerships Coordinator support – when necessary, assisting the Coordinators in their needs to execute sponsor events, programs and hospitality.
  • Meeting preparation – assisting with the details in advance of a new business presentation meeting or current sponsor meeting, including room preparation, company research, food and beverage support, etc.

Customer Relations Intern:
This internship will be composed of interacting with Chiefs Season Ticket Members, fans and all guests of Arrowhead Stadium.  Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to multitask, leadership skills and high levels of organization are all important elements within the internship.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Customer Relations staff with written and verbal communications to Season Ticket Members and fans.
  • Complete various duties at Chiefs and Arrowhead related events (ie. Season Ticket Member Events, Chiefs Games, College Games).
  • Assist in preparation of staffing for all games and special events.
  • Provide prompt, accurate, courteous service to guests during an event.
  • Assist with the fulfillment and distribution of various promotional items.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Reports to Customer Relations Representatives.

Event Operations Intern:
The Event Operations Intern is responsible for providing a standard of excellent service to internal and external guests and staff by assisting with the administrative support and day-to-day operations of the Operations Department – Event Operations, Guest Services, and Game Day Employee Relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of corporate and private events including event set-up and teardown.
  • Assist in the creation of event materials utilizing AutoCAD, Visio, or EBMS.
  • Coordinate meetings with existing and potential clients.
  • Attend meetings with clients as appropriate to prepare for events.
  • Assist department managers with leads and communication.
  • Research potential local and regional events and clients.
  • Work with leadership on developing processes for event operations.
  • Data entry and office administration.
  • Work corporate events and stadium-wide events as needed as a guest service representative.

Event Sales Intern:

The Event Sales Intern will be responsible for supporting Event Sales Managers by providing administrative, clerical, and client support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow-up on sales leads and direct all sales leads to the appropriate sales manager.
  • Respond to questions about event space, current orders, complaints, and all department inquiries.
  • Process sales data and track progress reports.
  • Respond to department emails, phone calls, and other forms of correspondence quickly and professionally.
  • Promote stadium products and services by explaining promotional offers to interested clients.
  • Maintain master client database.
  • Organize events, conferences, and other meetings.

Information Technology Intern:

The Information Technology Intern will assist in providing day-to-day computing support to the staff of the Kansas City Chiefs.  Duties include assisting with upgrades, configurations and migrations of office computers, providing helpdesk support for end users and troubleshooting computer hardware and software issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor our Service Desk application for any and all incoming requests from our football and administrative staff.
  • Identify, research, resolve and respond to desktop, laptop and network issues in a timely fashion.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic IT support requests using established processes and procedures.
  • Install, repair, maintain and configure hardware (printers, copiers, mobile phones, etc.) and software applications (Microsoft, Cisco, Adobe, etc.) in a network environment.
  • Must possess understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office 2010/2013, and Malware/Anti-Virus tools.
  • Pursuit of an Information Systems or related degree is preferred.
  • Occasional lifting of laptops, desktops, printers, and other equipment.

Marketing & Special Events Intern:
The Marketing Department is responsible for all brand building efforts for the Chiefs organization.  This entails developing key fan insights and translating insights into breakthrough fan engagement efforts.  These efforts may be through traditional media, new media, events, etc.  The Marketing and Special Events Intern will gain valuable training from the marketing and special events department as well as cross-departmental interactions on how to most effectively build a brand.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Chiefs Kids Club – Work on our main youth initiative, the Chiefs Kids Club, including day-to-day operation of the program, grassroots marketing efforts, newsletter development and more.
  • Marketing – Experience will be gained in media promotions, marketing plans, fact finding, media buying, copy writing, fan experience and other areas of media, marketing & promotions.
  • Events – Experience will be gained in event operations, customer service, event acquisition, event research, etc. This experience will include Chiefs games and Special Events (Red Friday, gameday production, college football, etc).
  • Research – Extensive work will include research projects, finding best practices and innovative marketing tactics, and regular presentation of research.

Production & Game Entertainment Intern:

The Production & Game Entertainment Intern will gain valuable hands-on experience while working directly with the Chiefs Manager of Production & Game Entertainment.  This internship provides the opportunity to interface throughout the front office (non-football) in areas including broadcast production, marketing, partnership implementation, customer relations, ticket sales and community relations.  Position will provide the unique opportunity to gain experience in both large scale entertainment planning and broadcast production.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The main focus for the fall semester will be game entertainment production both on field and on screen (ArrowVision) during each home football game.
  • Assist/plan/implement detailed and time sensitive game production plan.
  • Assist in communication with production guests including Hometown Hero, National Anthem, and Flyover participants.
  • Act as liaison and representative for the Kansas City Chiefs with all incoming Honor Guard and National Anthem performer inquiries.
  • Research different production and entertainment options when needed.
  • Track department’s merchandise inventory.
  • Organize all related ticket needs, requests, and distribution.
  • Assist with day to day needs of Chiefs in-house production team, 65TPT as assigned by Manager of Production and Game Entertainment.
  • Act as game day liaison and key implementation contact with game production guests as needed during pregame and halftime.
  • Request, manage and assist in delivery of all post-game wrap up materials.

Sports Lab Intern:
The Chiefs Sports Lab powered by Blue KC is located inside the New Arrowhead Stadium featuring hands-on and computer interactive activities promoting the importance of being active in your daily life, good nutrition, and healthy living.  This internship will be composed of interacting with educators, youth and community groups within an educational setting.  Sales, marketing, communication and organization are all important elements within the internship.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with sales and marketing for the Sports Lab to potential groups.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of KC Chiefs Sports Lab Events.
  • Interaction with groups during their visit to the KC Chiefs Sports Lab.
  • Inventory and Organization of Sports Lab materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Sports Lab Coordinator.
  • Reports to KC Chiefs Sports Lab Coordinator.

Stadium Facilities Intern:
The Stadium Facilities Intern will assist the maintenance and stadium operations departments with general prep and office work.  This individual will also be responsible for assisting with event preparations and green initiative programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with facility preparation and maintenance.
  • Assist with Stadium Operations personnel scheduling.
  • Assist with maintaining current equipment inventory.
  • Help manage events being held at Arrowhead Stadium on non-game days which will include event walk-thrus with clients.
  • Enter upcoming events into EBMS.
  • Research more efficient plans for recycling bag distribution.
  • Assist with any office work to be completed for Stadium Operations.

Premium Suites & Hospitality Intern:
The Kansas City Chiefs Premium Suites & Hospitality Intern will assist in all premium services, suites, events and hospitality areas for the organization.  The intern will gain hands on experience in professional sports business development and customer relations. In addition to other tasks, the intern will assist with maintaining current suite member relationships and hospitality programs, supporting the sales and prospecting process, and planning and facilitating VIP client events. You will acquire the ability to interact with key executives and decision-makers from prestigious local and national companies and learn the value of organization, communication and public relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Current Suite Member Support – Assistance in maintaining current partnerships, including ticket fulfillment, gift deliveries, suite presentation, entertainment tracking, catering etc.
  • Suite Member Coordinator Support – When necessary, assisting the Coordinators in their needs to execute game day operations, special events, hospitality programs and all tasks pertaining to current client services.
  • Sales Managers Support – When necessary, assisting the Sales Managers with tasks related to new business such as researching key prospects, finding high level contact information and following up with sales managers on these leads, assisting with presentation meetings and industry analysis.
  • Chiefs Gameday – Suite Member fulfillment and VIP hospitality.
  • Events – Planning, preparation, execution and wrap-up with regards to all special events including but not limited to VIP gatherings, concerts, college football games etc.
  • Manage our Suite Show-Ready Process.

Ticket Operations Intern:

The Ticket Operations Intern will be responsible for assisting the box office in day-to-day operations as well as front office operations, games, and events support.  Responsibilities include servicing and communicating with all levels of ticket account holders, processing payments and requests, maintaining records and files and completing other reports and projects as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with entry level ticket operations tasks.
  • Assist in processing and fulfillment of group ticket orders and over the counter purchase of tickets.
  • Provide Game Day/Event assistance to ticket holders.
  • Assist with the scanning and electronic organization of all relevant ticket office season ticket holder documentation.
  • Assist in updating season ticketholder database.

Ticket Sales & Tours Intern:

The Ticket Sales & Tours intern will gain valuable experience in a support role for all ticket sales initiatives including: Season Ticket Member retention, new Season Ticket Member sales, new group ticket sales and renewal.  The Ticket Sales & Tours Intern will also assist in the organizing and servicing of the Stadium Tour program, Tailgate Events at Chiefs home games as well as assist with other ticketing related activities throughout the year as needed.

Fan Analytics and Database Intern - Fall 2015 - Kansas City Chiefs (Kansas City, MO)

JOB SUMMARY: This internship provides an avenue to develop the individual’s skill set in a professional real-world environment while working under direct supervision of the Fan Insight and Analytics Manager. Experience will be gained in data insight and usage, email marketing and communication plans. Responsible for the coordination and execution of projects related to database communication and fan analytics. This internship will run from August 2015 through January 2016.

JOB SUMMARY:  

The Kansas City Chiefs Information Technology department is seeking a part-time employee to assist with general help desk activities. This position is typically year-round with an anticipated work day of four to five hours per day‚ five days a week. We have some flexibility regarding the work schedule and will take into account the academic time demands of a student. 
Transportation will be the applicant′s responsibility. The position will be based out of the Kansas City Chiefs Training Facility with some work performed off-site at our sister company, Hunt Midwest Enterprises. The position also requires up to a week of travel in July/August for training camp in St. Joseph‚ MO. The position starts at a rate of $12.00 an hour with an increase to $13.00 an hour following a 60-day probationary period. All supplies‚ equipment, and travel expenses are provided‚ covered, or reimbursed.
Please note that there is potential (though not guaranteed) for this position to turn into full-time employment. This would depend on the performance of the candidate and the future needs of the department.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Monitor our Service Desk application for any and all incoming requests from our football and administrative staff
2. Provide technical support and training to end users as-needed
3. Assist with installation‚ relocation‚ troubleshooting, repairs and upgrades of new and existing equipment (laptops, desktops, cell phones, tablets, copiers, printers, etc.)
