2018 Spring Internship Program - Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Tampa, FL)

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are offering full time internships to highly motivated and committed individuals wishing to build upon their college education with practical professional experience in the fast-paced, results-driven world of the National Football League.

Participants are given the unique opportunity to contribute to the organization's success while receiving an unparalleled, behind-the-scenes learning experience. The program is comprised of a comprehensive and flexible strategy that allows recent graduates to build upon their educational foundation in order to define, evaluate and achieve a variety of career-related objectives.

Although each intern will be placed within a specific department, they will have the opportunity to explore all aspects of the business of professional football through various outreach programs, networking events, and both group and individualized learning sessions. Interns will learn from mentors and establish relationships with industry leaders that will benefit their lives both personally and professionally.

The position is based upon supervised work experience in departments throughout the organization, including:

The Buccaneers Spring 2018 Internship Program will begin February 12th and end June 29th.  Interns are paid hourly and work 40 hours per week during their internship period.  Interns are also expected to commit to the full term of the internship.  Applicants must be able to work flexible and some unusual hours including nights and weekends for Buccaneers' events.

    Listed below are brief descriptions for each departmental internship. Please note that certain departments may have additional requirements.

    Communications

    • The Communications Intern will assist the department in serving as a liaison between local, national and international media and members of the organization. Responsibilities include: compiling daily media clips and broadcast news reports to be distributed to executives within the organization, recording and transcribing player/coach media availability multiple times a week, assisting in coordinating media interviews for players/coaching staff requests during Organized Team Activities (OTA), assisting with the preparation of team publications such as the team yearbook and official team media guide.
    • Prior experience with sports information, public relations or communications on the team side is preferred.
    • A degree in Public Relations or Journalism is preferred.

    Community Relations

    • The Community Relations Intern will play a supporting role in the day-to-day operations of the community outreach department of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This individual must possess a passion for philanthropy and demonstrate a willingness to contribute to a variety of programs. Responsibilities include managing team donations, organizing charitable events and visits, preparations for training camp and the season, support for Affinity Group engagement and assisting with players’ charitable endeavors.
    • Applicants must exhibit strong knowledge of the community outreach efforts of the Buccaneers and the National Football League.
    • Ability to interact and maintain relationships with key leaders in the Tampa Bay community
    • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record a must

    Corporate Partnership Sales & Activation

    • The Corporate Partnerships Intern will while gain hands-on experience in professional sports marketing and business development. Responsibilities include assisting with the design, development and execution of intense marketing presentations for high-end decision-makers from prospective and current partners and learning the process of high-end sponsorship revenue development.
    • The CP intern will learn and assist with all functions of activating an existing partnership, from on-site programs, community relations sponsorships, branding, and event planning/management.

    Events & Entertainment

    • The Events & Entertainment Department seeks a driven individual passionate about event planning and game day entertainment to receive hands-on training in a live environment. The Intern will be expected to focus on, plan, and participate in all aspects of training camp, events, and game related duties as specified. This role includes but not limited to concept development, branding, budgeting, staffing, production, talent, operations, venue selection, entertainment, food and beverage planning, timeline creation and implementation, along with actual event execution while adhering to organization initiatives and strategies.  The intern will also support in the daily operations of the department and learn all facets involved with producing events and game days.
    • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record a must

    Groundskeeping

    • The Groundskeeping Internship is designed to provide work experience for in athletic field aerification, topdressing, vertical mowing, implementation of the athletic fields and landscape fertility program, irrigation repairs and system maintenance, field painting operations, cultural practices necessary to maintain the grounds at the highest level possible.
    • The intern will engage in a very demanding program, must have the ability to lift/move 50+ pounds and be exposed to temperature/humidity extremes.
    • Preference will be given to those enrolled or recently graduated from an accredited turf management program.
    • Please Note:  This internship begins on June 1st and will end on September 14th, 2018.

    Marketing

    • The Marketing Intern will assist with the implementation of the annual marketing plans for assigned programs with a focus on increasing attendance and enhancing the overall fan experience. Other responsibilities include conducting marketing research for advance strategy and planning for outreach and activations; assisting with branding initiatives; collecting data on consumers, competitors and market place and consolidate into actionable items, reports and presentations; compiling and analyzing statistical data; providing day-to-day project support; assisting with basic office organization and administrative duties, which include filing, invoice processing, etc.; conducting research to be implemented into future marketing plans and assisting with distribution of collateral materials.
    • Experience with Excel and data analytics is preferred for success in this role.
    • A degree in Business or Marketing and prior Marketing Internship experience is preferred.

    Player Engagement

    • The Player Engagement Intern is actively involved in the off-the-field engagement of Buccaneer players. This position will assist the Director of Player Engagement with administrative projects including: reviewing curriculum, assessing and organizing ongoing programs and events for players, documenting and maintaining up-to-date active player files, weekly updates of player engagement activities, restructuring the player relocation guide and cultivating new community resources for players.  Coordinate with the Community Relations Department to organize and develop Buccaneers' Rookie Club appearances.  Respond to player personal issues, referring players and their families to qualified resources for assistance when appropriate. General assistance with the logistics of program execution including the Rookie Symposium and all other NFL-mandated Rookie programs.  The Player Engagement Intern will also provide necessary support to players, coaches and football staff as needed.
    • Must have sensitivity dealing with confidential information. Excellent content writing and presentation skills. 
    • The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and players. 
    • A quick learner with effective time management skills who is organized and detail-oriented.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Prezi are important for success in this role.
    • Bachelor’s degree or prior business experience equivalent preferred.
    • Please Note:  This internship begins January 22nd and runs through the end of June.

    Purchasing

    • The Purchasing Intern will assist with daily operations of procurement, office inventory, maintaining and fostering vendor relations, discussing pricing agreements and will act as a liaison between vendors and various members from all departments of the organization to assist in sourcing products & services whilst negotiating contracts/trades and pricing. This provides an excellent opportunity to interact with those departments and understand their inner workings.  Other areas of training include the quote and bid process, purchase order procedures, monitoring and maintaining business operations supplies, contract agreements, and the procurement and tracking of merchandise.
    • In-depth experience with Excel is important for success in this role.

      Digital – Website/Media

      • The Digital Department is seeking a Content Management Intern to assist with both digital asset workflow and creation of HTML centric web pages.  Buccaneers' content is published daily and has mix of media sources, layouts and purposes. The Content Management Intern will use the NFL CMS and gain practical experience in best practices.  Prior experience managing the digital presence of a brand is important for success in this role.
      • A degree in Production, Photography, Digital Media or a related field is preferred.
      • Experience in photography, Photoshop and working with digital assets of all types: images, videos, audio, graphics and text-based are required.

      Graphic Design

      • The Graphic Design Intern reports to the Creative Services Department and will receive training on how to utilize type and image to execute visually communicated solutions in print/new media consistent with Buccaneers current brand strategies. Other responsibilities include designing print ads, graphics, website ads and content, invitations and other printed and electronic materials.
      • A bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design is preferred. Experience with CS-6, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and knowledge of G5 Mac Pro, digital photography, and the OSX operating Systems are required.

      Video Production

      • The Video Production Intern will gain valuable, hands-on experience while working closely with Producers within the Digital Media Department. Responsibilities include shooting, editing and uploading press conferences and open locker room media availability, involved in creating news-type pieces and features on players, coaches, cheerleaders and fans for web and in-game, acting as a production assistant for producers and editing logo loops for events and presentations.
      • Applicants must have experience operating Panasonic DVC Pro, Canon DSLR and Sony FS7 and a strong knowledge of Adobe Premier Suite including Premier Pro CC, Photoshop CC and After Effects CC.

      Facility Operations/Security: Game Day/Event Staff
      Check-In Attendant - Raymond James Stadium - Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Tampa, FL)

      Aramark at Raymond James Stadium will be hosting a job fair on October 18th from 5pm-730pm.  The job fair will be held in our East Galley which is located off of 4116 N Himes Avenue.  You will enter through LOT B/C.  Once you enter you will pass the security guard shack and you will park on your left hand side.  Once you have parked you will see a glass building directly in front of you.  The glass building is located directly next to our loading dock.  The glass building is our East Galley.

      This job fair will host on the spot interviews so please do not miss your chance to join our team. 

      Duties and Responsibilities

      • Prepare the check in area by ensuring all of the proper paperwork, materials, uniforms, etc. are in place
      • Stay in constant communication with the Nonprofit Coordinator and HR Manager as staffing issues may arise
      • Communicate staffing numbers
      • Ensure that all volunteers and employees are in proper uniform
      • Ensure that all volunteers and employees are TEAM certified and have all proper training and paperwork before they are check in for each event
      • Distribution of uniforms
      • Effectively communicate stand locations, directions, policies, procedures, etc. to volunteers and employees
      • Effectively answer questions from volunteers and/or immediately finding someone who can answer questions
      • Opening and closing duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
      • Must maintain a pleasant attitude towards customers, co-workers, volunteers, and management; must possess excellent customer service skills
      • Follow Wage & Hour regulations

      Other Duties

      • All other duties assigned by direct report.
         

      EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

      EDUCATION:  

      • High school diploma or equivalent.                                                    

      EXPERIENCE:    

      • Prior admin experience
      • Prior experience at a stadium or a high volume facility preferred

      QUALIFICATIONS:            

      • Must be available flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays

      Community Relations: Mascot
      Team Mascot: Captain Fear - Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Tampa, FL)

      This position reports to the Cheerleading & Mascot Manager.  Captain Fear is a part time position that serves to promote the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home games, as well as in the Tampa Bay area. The mascot performer must be an upbeat, outgoing individual with the ability to interact with all types of people. Captain Fear is a vital component of the in-game experience at Raymond James Stadium. Candidates must be comfortable performing regularly in front of thousands of fans.

      Core Functions:

      • Maintain the character and personality of Captain Fear at home games and community appearances
      • Perform as mascot at all 10 home games during the NFL season
      • Help create a fun and energetic atmosphere at home games
      • Perform as mascot at community appearances throughout the year
      • Plan, develop, and implement mascot skits with Cheerleading and Mascot Manager to be performed at home games
      • Develop and maintain the mascot’s costume and props
      • Provide a high level of customer service to fans and sponsors
