Community Relations: Fundraising/Major Gifts
Foundation Development Manager - Minnesota Vikings (Minneapolis, MN)

The Foundation Development Manager will oversee fundraising for the Minnesota Vikings Foundation and relations with all donors.  The position will also be responsible for handling all community driven team grants.  This will include grant applications to support the team’s philanthropic work while also managing team foundation grant distributions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Aggressively seek new funding sources and maintain relationships with past and existing donors.
  • Cultivate all options for growing Foundation donors and creating an analytical system for maximizing the value of these contacts.
  • Research and identify potential grant opportunities to support team and foundation community programming.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of all grant applications while ensuring a system of tracking and oversight for the Vikings executive team.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to identify areas of economic support for team programs and projects.  This includes exploring corporate partner and sales opportunities.
  • Develop a tracking system to properly identify all team corporate and philanthropic financial giving.  Manage and communicate aspects of this internal process.
  • Implement the system for tracking and executing donation requests both for the team and Foundation.
  • Restructure the process by which the non-profit entity of the team solicits, processes, fulfills, and measures the impact of grant-giving.
  • Work with the events team to create fan driven opportunities to raise Foundation funds.  This would include management of traditional events such as the golf tournament and Taste of the Vikings while developing new options.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of a four year degree.
  • Required four years of experience in the areas of annual giving, capital campaigns, foundation/corporation solicitations, deferred giving, or grant writing.
  • Fundraising experience in a non-profit setting.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • High character and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and follow through to completion.
  • Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products.

Internships: Communications/Community Relations
PR Intern - Minnesota Vikings (Eden Prairie, MN)

The Minnesota Vikings are seeking a PR Intern to assist with the day-to-day operation of supporting the communications team.  The ideal candidate will have PR experience in sports, media or a PR agency and excellent attention to detail.  This position is full-time and will extend through the duration of the 2017 football season. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assist in design, layout, writing and editing content for annual team media guide published each offseason distributed to media, coaching staffs and club executives throughout the NFL.

  • Assist with media interview requests (coaches, players and staff).

  • Assist with responding and fulfilling all photo and donation requests for the department.

  • Updating the layout and production of gameday materials including but not limited to the flipcard, press box seating chart, pregame notes documents and other press materials.

  • Execute gameday activities, including setting up the press box, assisting media with gameday stats, and coordinating gameday staff.

  • Regularly set up, transcribe and tear down weekly press conferences.

  • Transcribe and distribute player, coaches and executives quotes. 

  • Assist the department with the media credential request and distribution process.

  • Maintain the media work room at Winter Park as well as the PR work room at U.S. Bank Stadium

  • Disseminate daily injury report.

  • Handle all logistics for media shoots at the Winter Park facility.

  • Assist in weekly game release: contribute notes, update records section, write game summaries, supplemental bios and supplemental statistics.

  • Serve as field media liaison during mini-camp, OTAs and regular season practice.

  • Assist at organizational community and corporate events when needed.

  • Assist the scouting and personnel department with researching and writing potential draft picks biographies.

  • Assist Exec. Director of Communications with planning and execution of communications in regards to the opening of the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center in March 2018.

  • Compile and distribute daily news clips.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, PR or similar field.

  • Must be proficient in Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.

  • Experience with stat programs such as StatsPass and Pro Football Reference.

  • Exhibit strong communications skills and the ability to think on their feet in stressful, time-sensitive situations.

  • Must be a self-starter as well as detail oriented when it comes to completing tasks.

  • Must exhibit strong active listening and communication skills.
