The Bengals have an internship position available in the Digital Media department. This is an hourly 6 month paid position starting in mid-July and ending in mid-January.

The position offers experience in the growing field of digital media and hands on experience in video production, graphic creation, and web design for Bengals.com and the Cincinnati Bengals' social assets. With digital media on the rise across the sports industry, this is a great opportunity to gain experience in a fast-paced NFL workplace. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produce video/audio content for Bengals.com and Bengals social media entities: interviews, press conferences, and video features
  • Assist with video production needs: lights, equipment setup, etc.
  • Conceptualize and execute graphics to be used on Bengals.com, social media, and e-newsletters
  • Photograph events for galleries to be posted or distributed through digital media
  • Edit article content for Bengals.com
  • Help maintain video database

Ideal candidates will meet the following qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of non-linear video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro) and Photoshop
  • Professional level video camera experience (i.e. Panasonic AG AC-160A)
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects from start to finish and meet deadlines
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional work hours (projects may require work outside of 9-5 from M-F)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and be a team player
  • Possess great creativity and problem solving skills

The Detroit Lions currently have an opening for a Multimedia Intern. INTERN-Groundskeeper - Allen Park - Detroit Lions (Allen Park, MI)

Position Summary:

The Detroit Lions Groundskeeping Department is accepting applications for a part-time seasonal intern for their department. The Groundskeeping Department is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the practice facility grounds and parking lot at the Detroit Lions Allen Park Training Facility.

The Groundskeeping Intern will have the opportunity to learn about and assist with the day-to-day operations of the department. The Intern will gain hands on training and experience in field painting, grounds and equipment maintenance, and turf management.

This is a part-time, seasonal position working approximately 20-40 hours per week.  This position would begin in June, 2016 and go until October, 2016.  No benefits are available due to the part-time seasonal nature of this position. This position is based in the Detroit Lions Training Facility in Allen Park, MI and is a paid position. Candidates must provide own housing and transportation to and from Allen Park and to Ford Field.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate small landscape machinery including lawnmowers and trimmers
  • Trimming, mowing, divot repair, edging
  • Field painting
  • Aerifying, topdressing, over seeding,pruning, mulching and weed control
  • Basic equipment maintenance
  • Assist facilities department with parking lot maintenance and repair; paint spaces as needed

Qualifications

  • The preferred candidate is enrolled in/recently graduated from a two or four year program at the college level in a Turf Management, Agronomy, Landscape, or Horticulture program
  • Experience in fertilizer, pesticide and/or fungicide applications or having an applicator’s license strongly preferred
  • Candidate must be a team player and have the ability to work effectively and professionally when working independently

INTERN - Video Department - Detroit Lions (Allen Park, MI)

Summary of Position:

The Detroit Lions are accepting applications for two internships in the Video department. The Video Department is responsible for video footage which is used by the coaching staff, players, and personnel department at all practices and football games while ensuring the proper operation of equipment used.

The Video Department interns will have the opportunity to learn about and assist with the day-to-day operations of the department. The interns will gain hands on training and experience in camera work, editing, and light post-production work in a professional sports environment.


Hours/Duration of Position:
Interns will work between 30-40+ hours per week.

Please be aware that interns will not work the same schedule every day. Their hours will be scheduled around team practice. All applicants MUST be able to work a flexible and varied schedule which will include nights, weekends, and holidays. A typical schedule might be 9:30am - 3:00pm or 10:30am to 5:00pm.

Internships begin in late July 2016 and will end at the end of the football season in January/February 2017. These positions are based at the Detroit Lions Training Facility in Allen Park, MI and will also travel to Ford Field in Detroit, MI. Internships are paid positions, but interns are required have their own housing in metro Detroit, as well as transportation to and from the Practice Facility and Stadium.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate third and fourth camera during practice, workouts, and special assignments
  • Download video (digitize or capture) onto video server, mark clips, and create sequences for viewing by the coaching staff, management, and personnel departments. This includes practice, workouts, and opponents footage
  • Assist in set-up of all video equipment utilized at hotels and verify that all set-ups are operational for team meetings
  • On day of game, assist in set-up of video equipment used on the field  and coaches booth (Still shot system)
  • Assist in maintaining video library
  • Other duties as assigned
     

Requirements

  • The preferred candidate is looking for internship experience during or immediately following their junior or senior year of college.
  • Applicants MUST HAVE prior experience in video for a college football team or previous video internships within the National Football League (Working with coaching video rather than post production/broadcast work).

Ford Field Management, LLC is Detroit’s premier sports and entertainment destination and is the game day home of the Detroit Lions. Throughout the year, Ford Field hosts events such as concerts, motorsports, college sports, high school and college graduations, and more. Summary:

The intern will have the opportunity to learn and assist with the day-to-day operations of the Broadcasting Department and will assist in the production of the Lions GameDay LIVE television program, DetroitLions.com and game day production at Ford Field. The intern will work home games on our production crew and gather material for the NFL Network and NFL Now.


Hours/Duration of Position:

Interns will work approximately 40 hours per week. The internship would begin in late July of 2016 and end at the conclusion of the football season. This is a paid position, but interns are required to provide their own housing and transportation.


Broadcasting Duties:

  • Assist in the set up and video taping of the Head Coach's press conferences on Mondays
  • Coordinate guests for team radio shows on Sundays and Mondays during the season
  • Videotape, edit, and post multiple stories each day for the team website
  • Assist with logging and tagging video footage for the team's media asset manager
  • Assist player guests for the taping of Lions GameDay LIVE
  • Assist in videotaping postgame press conferences and player interviews for postgame shows and NFL Network
  • Act as a liasion for the department with the NFL Network


Requirements:

  • The preferred candidate is in their Senior year or looking for experience immediately following graduation from a college or university with a degree in Broadcasting, Journalism, Film, Mass Media or related field
  • Candidate must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including being available for major scheduled events on nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Candidates must provide own transportation and housing
  • Candidates must have the ability to operate a video camera and non-linear editing system and a willingness to learn new equipment and systems
  • Candidates must have experience in website streaming and posting

Position Description

USA Football is currently looking to hire multiple U.S. National Team interns that will assist with the recruitment of middle school and high school aged athletes to progress through the U.S. National Team program. Athletes who progress through the program will have the opportunity to represent the United States on the football field against international competition in events such as the International Bowl and World Championships.

Selected candidates will learn and execute sales processes from beginning to end. Selected candidates will learn how to generate and qualify leads based off of organizational needs. Interns will also gain exposure to different sales-marketing tactics to further promote Regional Development Camps.

Selected candidates will gain invaluable experience interfacing directly with customers (parents, players, and coaches) throughout athletes’ registration process. Once registered, interns will oversee an athletes’ post-registration engagement.

This role will also require candidates to manage the U.S. National Team’s CRM system, including the processing of player evaluations conducted on-site. Internships may include working on-site at Regional Development Camps and other USA Football events.

Specific responsibilities include:

            Interns must be able to work extended hours including some nights and weekends.  A background in public/media relations or sports management is strongly encouraged.  Candidates must possess strong written and oral communication skills.  The intern will be required to participate in a mandatory background check and drug testing at the beginning of the internship.

Fall Internship Responsibilities (August – December)

 

  • Aid in facilitation and coordination of player and coach interviews.
  • Help with production and editing of the team’s media guide, weekly release and various publications.
  • Facilitate various requests by media members for information, statistics, etc.
  • Assist in distribution of credentials on a daily basis well as for home games.
  • Oversee daily newspaper clips and their distribution.
  • Assist in transcribing and distribution of daily quotes.
  • Monitor player interviews during open locker room.
  • Maintain the media room at Redskins Park, keeping it fully stocked with updated team information.
  • Assist with preseason and home games.
  • Prepare press box for game day.
  • Research statistical information for management, coaches, scouts and internal department as needed.
  • Attend and assist with community events.
  • General office work to include email, phones, faxes, sending packages, etc.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Communications staff.

Intern Candidate Requirements:

  • Full-time undergraduate/graduate student.
  • Candidate MUST receive college credit in order to qualify for this internship – proof of credit letter from your College or University is required.
  • Polite, positive, self-starter who works well with others.
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Can work independently when given a task and have the focus to follow through & follow-up if problems arise.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office proficient).
  • Proactive in asking questions when needed.

  • Ability to handle physical requirements of job including setting up equipment for events and other light to medium lifting.
  • Ability to interact with players, staff and the community in a professional manner.

Redskins.com Intern - Fall 2016 - Washington Redskins (Ashburn, VA)

The Washington Redskins are seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual to support the Digital Media department as an intern, with the primary focus on assisting Redskins.com and related digital assets, for the Fall semester, 2016. Start/end dates for the internship can be negotiable.

The right individual must take great pride in their work and pay strong attention to detail. Applicant must have a strong technical knowledge of digital media and understanding of website standards and digital trends. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, while keeping organized and maintaining high standards in all work. Needs to be able to work as part of a team or individually. All candidates must be eligible to receive college credits.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide content to assist Redskins.com's operations, including: taking photos, uploading galleries and transcribing interviews
  • Support the team's digital media staff with day-to-day duties
  • Monitor social media accounts including those of the players and fans along with websites dedicated to the team
  • Support the execution of vision and strategy for best-in-class NFL club site
  • Create new initiatives-stories, blog posts, photo galleries - - that can be used on Redskins.com
  • Research ways to improve the design, navigation and fan experience on Redskins.com and other team microsites
  • Track and monitor website analytics and help find areas for improvement
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram and Snapchat
  • Assist with other duties as necessary
