Intern, Social Media - Los Angeles Chargers (Costa Mesa, CA)

The Social Media Intern is responsible for assisting in social initiatives for the Los Angeles Chargers social media channels. This person will work with internal team members to help communicate and amplify the organization’s key messages on various topics via social media. This is an hourly paid position starting in July and ending in mid-February.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Assist with managing Chargers official accounts, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SnapChat and Weibo.
  • Help with idea generation, content development, planning and scheduling for all social media platforms.
  • Provide social coverage on training camp, gamedays and other live events.
  • Evaluate and interpret performance analytics for the purposes of designing fan/follower growth strategies and engagement level improvements.
  • Work with corporate partnership to ensure successful execution of partner-affiliated social media posts and promotions
  • Monitor best practices and trends in organic and branded social media.
  • Monitor, recognize and implement ongoing improvements to workflow and output of each channel.
  • Help with team photo and video requests, including shooting, editing, organizing and posting to social media.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or professional certification.
  • Some experience in marketing or digital marketing.
  • Familiarity with key social platforms listed above.
  • Familiarity with social and digital publishing, listening/monitoring and analytics tools.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking and writing skills.

Additional considerations:

  • Candidate must be available to work extended hours during the NFL season, training camp and NFL Draft, including weekends and holidays.

Youth Marketing Intern - Minnesota Vikings (Minneapolis, MN)

SUMMARY:  The Minnesota Vikings are seeking a Youth Marketing Intern that will assist with programs and initiatives that will develop the next generation of Vikings fans.  Additionally, this individual will aid in other team marketing engagements on game days, regional marketing events, and special Vikings team events.  The ideal candidate will be prepared to deal with fast paced nature of the National Football League while becoming an effective team player within the Vikings Marketing Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with youth marketing database management and development.

  • Manage Vikings Kids Club database and membership fulfillment.

  • Assist in planning of the Vikings Explorers youth program and management of the on-site execution of the program.

  • Aid marketing staff in execution of team programs and events including, but not limited to the Vikings Kids Club, Vikings of Tomorrow, and school outreach programs.

  • Assist in the planning and production of the youth television show Vikings Huddle.

  • Collaborate with corporate partnerships team to ideate and execute enriching partner activations related to youth programming and marketing initiatives.

  • Assist in growing existing youth programs and developing new programs to enhance youth outreach.

  • Manage on-site execution of the Sound the North traveling regional marketing activation, including extensive driving across Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.

  • Aid with marketing activations at other Vikings special events including Training Camp, Draft Party, Taste of the Vikings, etc.

  • Assist with executing and planning the Commons Park, our youth activation space, during every Vikings home game.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 4 year college degree

  • Relevant experiences in sports marketing is preferred.

  • The ability and desire to work long, flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • Must be a positive team player with strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills.

  • Clean driving record and ability to operate team pick-up truck and travel trailer to execute regional marketing events throughout Minnesota.

  • Desire to learn and advance knowledge and skills within the professional sports industry.

  • Familiarity with Office computer software will be required.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Ticket & Fan Services

? Assist with incoming calls and emails to the Ticket Office and Guest Services lines and assist visitors at ticket windows

INTERN - Events - The Detroit Lions and Ford Field Management, LLC. (Detroit, MI)

Description:
Ford Field Management, LLC is Detroit’s premier sports and entertainment destination and is the game day home of the Detroit Lions.  Throughout the year, Ford Field hosts events such as concerts, motorsports, college sports, high school and college graduations, and more.  Ford Field also has space available for conferences, meetings, and banquets.  Ford Field has hosted major events such as Super Bowl XL and the 2009 NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four.  The Detroit Lions are the only NFL team to own, host and operate a college football bowl game in the Quick Lane Bowl, which features teams from the Big Ten and ACC conferences.

Ford Field Management and the Detroit Lions currently have a need for an Event Intern.  This position is based out of the Ford Field stadium located in Downtown Detroit.  We will be accepting resumes for this position until 11:59 PM on Wednesday, June 28th.

 

Summary of Position:
This position is responsible for supporting the Executive Director of the Quick Lane Bowl and Events and Events team with services directly relating to Events.  Work will include coordinating event services with other departments: operations, catering, marketing, parking, merchandise, premium sales, sponsorship, broadcasting, facility services, security, housekeeping, IT, etc. Work may be reviewed through oral feedback, throughout meetings and by evidence of event client and team member satisfaction.

Hours/Duration of Position:
The full-time internship would begin on August 7, 2017, and end approximately January 5th, 2018. This position is based at Ford Field in Detroit, MI. The applicant must be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes working nights, weekends, and holidays. This is a paid internship, however candidates must provide their own transportation and housing in the Detroit area.

  • DPS Football Championship
  • Catholic League Football Championships
  • Michigan Competing Band Association
  • PAL Championship

 Major Events:

  • Assist the event lead for certain events, to work directly with the client (pre-determined by employer) and delegate all client needs to the appropriate departments as necessary. 
  • Assist the Operations Manager to supervise and coordinate operational and logistical elements for street parties that are held the day of the event. 
  • Grassroots marketing including social media (Facebook, Twitter & Instagram) implementation for various events as needed. 
  • Game Management liaison for major sporting events.  Assist with team bands, travel arrangements, equipment, practice, and game logistics.
  • Assemble décor RFPs for major events and negotiate pricing to determine the best candidate for bid. 
  • Signage – Ensure that all necessary signage is created and displayed for all major events to accommodate guests.
  • Represent and promote Quick Lane Bowl at all major events

Detroit Lions Events:

  • Training Camp – Assist in the set-up/tear down of equipment and activation of promotional elements
  • Detroit Lions Pregame Tailgates – Assist in managing operational and logistical elements for tailgates on Brush Street prior to Lions games. Includes chalking the street, determining vendor booth locations, making sure all vendors adhere to the NFL Best Practices and Ford Field guidelines, and maintaining a safe environment for all guests.
  • Promote and activate the Quick Lane Bowl trophy and tickets during Detroit Lions games
  • Assist visiting teams and Lions equipment team with load-in, and ensure all needs are taken care of until they depart the stadium.
  • Work with Operations team to secure and negotiate competitive bids for equipment needed for training camp and Lions games. May include bleachers, tents, golf carts, signs/banners, crowd barrier, portable restrooms, and all other items that may be needed.
  • Assist in stocking 50/50 Game on Cancer raffle kiosks throughout the stadium prior to each game
  • Monitor inventory on all 50/50 Game on Cancer raffle materials
  • Make sure all 50/50 raffle equipment is charged and ready to go for the next event

Quick Lane Bowl:

  • Create social media calendars and execute on all social channels while setting benchmarks to increase number of likes and followers
  • Create, manage and update content on Quicklanebowl.com
  • Organize and inventory all Quick Lane Bowl merchandise
  • Coordinate logistics with Quick Lane Bowl and the community: Detroit PAL and QLB Fundraiser
  • Game Management: Coordinate School bands practice, team equipment, game officials, gift distribution, signage
  • Take lead on one or more travel party/ancillary events: Build A Bear/DIA/Science Center/Fowling
  • Work with the DMCVB to secure and sign up volunteers for week-of events
  • Secure and coordinate team late-night snacks including trade value, logistics and delivery to hotels
  • Coordinate team snack bags: secure quantities and payment of snack items
  • Encourage, promote and handle post-event merchandise sales

Other Duties:

  • Ensure that the Ford Field Event website is updated with all necessary event information: ticket information, parking/traffic information, entrances, etc.
  • Analyze post event feedback from each event and determine which operational items can be performed more efficiently in the future.
  • Assist with daily general office duties and operational needs of the Events department, including making copies, filing, creation and hanging event signage, front office coverage and phone/email correspondence
  • Answer main telephone and transfer calls at the reception desk when asked to do so

Seasonal Operations Intern - Washington Redskins (Landover, MD)

The Washington Redskins Operations Department offers season-long (August through February) internships.  The internships are designed for either undergraduate or graduate students and are unpaid positions.  All candidates must be able to receive course-credit for the internship.  The intern will have the opportunity to learn about the responsibilities of a National Football League operations staff while working as a member of the department and assisting in its day-to-day functions.

·         Support the strategic marketing team in a variety of projects

·         Assist in pitch preparation for the sales team as well as other research/strategic planning projects

·         Utilize Nielsen Scarborough and other research outlets to incorporate into pitches (prior knowledge preferred but not required)

·         Maintain and continuously update the master pitch deck and inventory of all sellable sponsorship assets

·         Assist with any prospect/client-related matters that may develop over the course of the internship

Qualifications:

·         Must be able to receive college credit (graduate or undergraduate) for the internship

·         20-25 hours per week

·         Ability to commute to Redskins Park located in Ashburn, VA

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Above average skills in PowerPoint

·         Proven experience to appropriately work with and around confidential information

·         Ability to work independently or as part of a team

·         Ability to work game days at FedExField in Landover, MD

Redskins Broadcast Network 2017 Season Intern - Washington Redskins (Ashburn, VA)

The Washington Redskins are looking for interns for the 2017 NFL Season. We provide hard-working, dedicated, knowledgeable, and exceptional people with internships in the professional NFL industry.

BROADCASTING
Get hands-on experience producing and editing web videos, assisting producers with TV shows, documentaries and much more! *This is not a Radio Play-by-Play, or live production internship. This is post-production based internship.*

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work nights, weekends and some holidays
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to multi-task
  • Punctuality and accountability
  • Positive attitude and willingness to go the ‘extra mile’
  • Need to receive college credit (no exceptions)
  • Need to provide own transportation to Redskins Park
  • Must be able to commit to entire NFL season (mid August-January)

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite & Final Cut Pro
  • Proficient in techniques in Non-linear editing systems
  • Proficient in broadcast style cameras (Panasonic P2) and DSLR filming (Canon 5D Mark III)
  • An understanding of 'sequencing' and ‘storytelling’ in terms of video production
  • Basic knowledge of Mac operating system, Microsoft Word, Office, Excel
  • Must provide link to relevant resume reel in Cover Letter

 

DUTIES:

  • Shoot, edit and upload player and coach press conferences and other web content to redskins.comTV
  • Help producers with shows as needed (schedule guests, log/digitize video, write scripts, generate ideas)
  • Edit and produce commercials and demos for various Redskins productions
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of show sets
  • Working with online CMS to organize video on redskins.com.
