Communications Internship - Cincinnati Bengals (Cincinnati, OH)

The Bengals are looking for an intern to join the communications department. The intern will have the opportunity to learn about the responsibilities of an NFL communications staff while working as a member of the department and assisting in its day-to-day functions. Candidates with backgrounds in public/media relations, journalism and sports information are preferred.

Please note this is a part-time hourly position (approximately 20 hours per week). The ideal candidate will be available for one year beginning in March or early April. The internship requires some non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends.

Duties and responsibilities:

·         Facilitate interview requests and serve as a team representative during select media availabilities  

·         Help with production and editing of the team’s media guide, as well as the weekly news release and other media information produced throughout the NFL season

·         Transcribe quotes from news conferences and other media availabilities

·         Monitor and compile daily media clips

·         Prepare press box and news conference rooms

·         Assist with processing and mailing credentials and donation requests

·         Other duties as assigned

Ideal candidates will meet the following qualifications:

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills

·         Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects

·         Detail-oriented and organized

·         Proven experience to appropriately work with and around confidential information is necessary

Fan Experience & Special Events Intern - Cleveland Browns (Berea, OH)

Overview:  The Cleveland Browns are seeking creative and qualified intern level individuals to support the Fan Experience & Special Events department.  The Fan Experience and Special Events Intern will be responsible in assisting with the day-to-day operations of the department, as well as set-up and coordination of special events.

Job Summary/Responsibilities:

This internship is an opportunity for the candidate to learn about the strategies, operations, planning and execution of the Cleveland Browns Fan Experience & Special Events Department.  Responsibilities as assigned to him/her include, but not limited to:

  • Special Event Coordination – assist with event pre-planning, event set-up, tear down, and coordination of event activations for all 2017 special events.
  • The set-up, daily operation, and tear down of all elements that relate to the 2017 Cleveland Browns Training Camp.  Elements include set up and break down of hospitality tents, activity zones, bleacher seating, signage and other duties as assigned. 
  • Game Day Entertainment – assist with the pre-planning ideation and execution of all game day entertainment and Dawg Pound Drive activities. Candidate will be assigned specific functions on game day by Manager of department.
  • Browns Backers – assist in the execution of all Browns Backers related tasks, which includes, but not limited to, website maintenance, events, daily communication and e-mail support.
  • Mascot Program – assist in tracking, coordinating, and fulfilling appearances and requests.
  • Fan Services – assisting fans & guests at events by providing knowledgeable information & helpful assistance.

 Essential Experience/Skills:

Indianapolis Colts Mascot Intern - Indianapolis Colts (Indianapolis, IN)

Position Overview

The Indianapolis Colts are seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a Mascot Intern position within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This individual will work with the Mascot Coordinator and Assistant in scheduling appearances, helping with administrative duties of the department and serving as a back-up for appearances, as needed.  The internship is paid and will require additional evening and weekend hours as dictated by the department’s events and game day responsibilities. 

Reports to:          Mascot Program Coordinator and Mascot Assistant

Position Responsibilities:

·         Learn the dynamics of the character, Blue, from the Mascot Program Coordinator in order to serve as a back-up performer, as needed

·         Assist with scheduling appearances and school shows

·         Track media coverage for Blue

·         Attend appearances with Blue to assist, as needed

·         Assist with the planning and creation of promotional elements for the program (i.e. Colts.com stories and updates, press releases, social media posts, etc.)

·         Manage fan mail for the department

·         Research new appearance and promotional opportunities for Blue

·         Assist with Colts marketing events and programs, as needed

·         Assist Blue on gamedays (skits, fan interaction, t-shirt tosses, etc.)

 

Skills/Requirements:

·         High school diploma or equivalent

·         Previous experience as a mascot is mandatory

The Internship:

The Jacksonville Jaguars (the “Jaguars”) are currently looking for a student to shadow the Ticketing Department as part of the Jaguars internship program. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Write football-related editorial on deadline for usafootball.com and other outlets
  • Draft news releases, media alerts, fact sheets and other materials promoting USA Football initiatives and membership
  • Identify potential news story ideas relevant to USA Football programs and initiatives
