INTERN - Video Department - Detroit Lions (Allen Park, MI)

Summary of Position:

The Detroit Lions are accepting applications for two internships in the Video department. The Video Department is responsible for video footage which is used by the coaching staff, players, and personnel department at all practices and football games while ensuring the proper operation of equipment used.

The Video Department interns will have the opportunity to learn about and assist with the day-to-day operations of the department. The interns will gain hands on training and experience in camera work, editing, and light post-production work in a professional sports environment.


Hours/Duration of Position:
Interns will work between 30-40+ hours per week.

Please be aware that interns will not work the same schedule every day. Their hours will be scheduled around team practice. All applicants MUST be able to work a flexible and varied schedule which will include nights, weekends, and holidays. A typical schedule might be 9:30am - 3:00pm or 10:30am to 5:00pm.

Internships begin in late September 2016 and will end at the end of the football season in January/February 2017. These positions are based at the Detroit Lions Training Facility in Allen Park, MI and will also travel to Ford Field in Detroit, MI. Internships are paid positions, but interns are required have their own housing in metro Detroit, as well as transportation to and from the Practice Facility and Stadium.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate third and fourth camera during practice, workouts, and special assignments
  • Download video (digitize or capture) onto video server, mark clips, and create sequences for viewing by the coaching staff, management, and personnel departments. This includes practice, workouts, and opponents footage
  • Assist in set-up of all video equipment utilized at hotels and verify that all set-ups are operational for team meetings
  • On day of game, assist in set-up of video equipment used on the field  and coaches booth (Still shot system)
  • Assist in maintaining video library
  • Other duties as assigned
     

Requirements

  • The preferred candidate is looking for internship experience during or immediately following their junior or senior year of college.
  • Applicants MUST HAVE prior experience in video for a college football team or previous video internships within the National Football League (Working with coaching video rather than post production/broadcast work).
  • Interns will not work the same schedule every day. Their hours will be scheduled around team practice. All applicants MUST be able to work a flexible and varied schedule which will include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Applicants must provide their own transportation and housing
  • Knowledge of camera systems (ENG/EFP) and its operations preferred
  • Knowledge of video equipment (Panasonic HD) preferred
  • Knowledge of either XOS or DVSport software systems preferred


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
     
  • Ability to reach, bend, sit and/or stand, climb or balance, kneel, crouch or crawl
     
  • Ability to run with camera while shooting on-field drills

2016 Video Scouting Internship for Football Season - Sports Info Solutions (Coplay, PA)

Position Overview

Sports Info Solutions (SIS) is looking for highly motivated individuals with a desire to work in the football industry.  Video Scouts will have a chance to make an immediate impression on the company. Each Video Scout will be collecting data that is directly used by SIS clients for advance scouting and evaluation purposes.  Not only will the Video Scouts become more familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of hundreds of amateur and professional players, but they will also learn about the ins and outs of the football analytics industry. Numerous Video Scouts have gone on to succeed in jobs with professional sports teams and with SIS in a full-time capacity. 

Strong candidates will possess great attention to detail, basic knowledge about NFL rules and be able to work in a collaborative team environment or independently as needed.


Duration: SIS Video Scouts will report to the SIS office to begin training on August 22nd, 2016. The position will last for a period of six months.


Responsibilities:
•    Score NFL and amateur football games using specialized computer software
•    Review the accuracy and validity of data
•    Prepare and analyze statistical data for delivery to customers
•    Assist with additional projects as instructed by full-time staff
•    Provide administrative support to the full-time staff
 

Qualifications:
•    Demonstrated knowledge of NFL and NCAA rules
•    Ability to identify and differentiate between players 
•    Computer proficiency and the ability to quickly learn new software
•    High attention to detail 
•    High school or college football playing experience is preferred but not necessary
•    Football coaching and/or scouting experience is a plus
•    Must be able to work nights and weekends
•    Must be able to work out of our Lehigh Valley, PA office
•    Enrolled in or graduated from an accredited college or university

  • ? Assist with the planning and executing of Washington Redskin Suite Owner and/or prospect events.
  • ? Maintain methods of organization and communication throughout the office, by properly labeling folders and binders, circulating contracts, updating the current suite listing/availability charts, etc.
  • ? Assist with the distribution of contractual gifts and update the Suites/Hospitality inventory spread sheet (reorganization of gift storage facility may also be occasionally needed).
  • ? Attend Redskins-related special events, including networking events, at Redskin Park and FedExField held throughout the semester (fall semester – expected to attend and help out during each home game).
  • ? Attend all Redskins home games – assist with game-day prep and visiting clients
  • ? Photograph and organize pictures taken at each Redskins-related event.
  • ? Call current and/or prospective clients to arrange and confirm meetings and/or event attendance.
  • ? Assist in answering phones and taking down messages at any point in time – especially when full-time staff are absent from desk/attending meetings, etc.
  • ? Utilize the Redskins’ FedEx online account to create labels for shipping client gifts, ticket packages, etc.
  • ? Assist with creating and facilitating mail merges/blast emails to reach current and prospective clients.

Time Requirements: ?

  • Full time is preferred (M-F). 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. ?
  • Part time availability would be considered for 20-25 hours per week; additional work required on weekends / nights contingent upon game and event schedule. ·         Intern will learn e-marketing processes by supporting Marketing and CRM managers with the creation of ticketing email proofs, documenting email open rates, and organizing lead generation.

The Washington Redskins are looking for enthusiastic, career-driven individuals to join the 50/50 Raffle gameday team at all Redskins home games during the 2016 Season. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Donor Service Coordinator with new marketing initiatives to increase sales, including but not limited to: Social media, target marketing, in game promotions etc.
  • Help to create and implement new 50/50 Raffle sales strategies throughout the stadium
  • Problem solve and answer questions about the 50/50 Raffle from fans, staff and sellers
  • Assist Coordinator and Director of Special Events to manage more than 30 part-time staff including helping to coordinate setup, checkout, troubleshooting, sales, ticket distribution, etc.
  • Assume all other duties and responsibilities as assigned during the 50/50 Raffle

Hours: Approximately 8-10 hours each Washington Redskins Home Game.

Qualifications: 

  • Must be over 18
  • Must receive college credit in order to qualify for this internship – Proof of credit letter from your College or University is required

The Washington Redskins Photography Department offers summer, season-long and spring internships.  The internships are designed for either undergraduate or graduate students and are unpaid positions.  All candidates must be able to receive course-credit for the internship.  The intern will have the opportunity to learn about the responsibilities of a National Football League communications staff while working as a member of the department and assisting in its day-to-day functions. 

            Interns must be able to work extended hours including some nights and weekends.  A background in photography or digital media is strongly encouraged.  Candidates must possess strong written and oral communication skills.  The intern will be required to participate in a mandatory background check and drug testing at the beginning of the internship. 

Summer Internship Responsibilities (August - January)

  • Photographing practices, games, team events as well as “behind-the-scenes” opportunities around the team facility and at the stadium.
  • Help with editing photos through Adobe Creative Cloud software and other similar programs.
  • Helping the team photographer with all photo shoot requests, including equipment needs and set up (lighting/backdrops/scenery, etc.)
  • Assisting with the management of team’s photo archive, including the sorting of all shots into the digital photo drive, as well as the scanning and cataloging of historical photos.
  • Working hand-in-hand with the public relations, digital media and marketing departments to fulfill any needs

 

Intern Candidate Requirements:

·         Candidate MUST receive college credit in order to qualify for this internship – proof of credit letter from your College or University is required.

·         Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.

·         Strong photography skills.

·         Detail-oriented and organized.

·         Can work independently when given a task and have the focus to follow through & follow-up if problems arise.

·         Computer skills (Adobe Creative Cloud proficient).

·         Team player, humble enough to handle a variety of tasks; no job beneath them.

·         Ability to handle physical requirements of job including setting up equipment for events and other light to medium lifting.

·         Ability to interact with players, staff and the community in a professional manner.

·         Proven experience to appropriately work with and around confidential information is necessary.

Social Media Intern - Washington Redskins (Ashburn, VA)

The Washington Redskins are seeking a creative and qualified individual to support the Digital Media department as an intern, with the primary focus on social media platforms.

The right individual must take great pride in their work and pay strong attention to detail. Applicant must have a strong understanding of social media platforms and digital trends. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, while keeping organized and maintaining high standards in all work. Needs to be able to work as part of a team or individually.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily content and fan engagement on various Redskins social media sites, including: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, YouTube, Vine, Pinterest, Snapchat and Reddit.
  • Manage and monitor spam and commenting modules on social sites, as well as initiate fan discussion and engage with fans on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Conceptualize and research creative ways to improve the Redskins social media platforms and integration on Redskins.com and other team microsites. Assist in the dissemination of Redskins breaking news and team updates across all social channels, including mobile platforms.
  • Assist with the management of sponsored content, fan contests and promotions, including providing analytic reports and archiving database records.
  • Help to identify Redskins fan groups, contribute content to Redskins Rally, and participate through various social media platforms.
  • Manage and update various sections of the Redskins website including Health & Wellness, Schedule, Events, Photo Galleries and other pages.
  • Documenting various Redskins events through photography and film, and uploading pictures, videos and blog content onto Redskins.com and other social sites.
  • Track and monitor success of online initiatives using various analytic tools to produce daily, weekly and monthly reports to find areas for improvement.
  • Researching potential vendors for the Redskins to partner with for future social media engagements.
  • Assist with other duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding of social media platforms and how the Redskins desire to be branded in the online space.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Detail-oriented and strong organization and project management skills.
  • Polite, positive, self-starter who works well with others.
  • Must possess superior writing skills and editorial judgment.
  • Strong knowledge of sports and football.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Above average computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) are required; knowledge of Adobe PhotoShop, video editing (iMovie), HTML and CSS is a plus.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to receive college credit and have completed course work in the field of Public Relations, Communications, Graphic Design, Advertising, or a related field.
  • Must provide own means of transportation to Redskins Park in Ashburn, Virginia.

The Washington Redskins are seeking qualified individuals to join the Information Technology Department as an Intern. The right individual will be able to work as part of a team or individually. Intern responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
