Athletic Turf Internship - 2010 - Minnesota Vikings (Eden Prairie, MN)

The Minnesota Vikings are accepting applications for an Athletic Turf Internship for the summer 2010 turf season. This Internship will run from April - November 2010.

This internship includes all aspects of professional football field maintenance at the Viking’s Winter Park practice facility in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. The scope of work will include, but is not limited to: sodding, mowing, overseeding, irrigation management, fertilization, field layout, painting and topdressing.

Job Description: • Intern will perform landscape maintenance including; mowing, fertilizing, trimming, weed management, irrigation and pruning • Intern will operate small landscape machinery including lawnmowers, trimmers and other miscellaneous equipment • Intern may perform general maintenance to landscape equipment – filling gas, change oil/fluids and adding lubricants • Intern may perform other facility and building maintenance as needed. 

The turf season requires working long hours, including weekends and requires some travel to Training Camp located in Mankato, Minnesota.

Required education/skills: • Experience/education in turfgrass management as it relates to athletic fields • Excellent communication skills • Ability to work independently • The Intern must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. and operate heavy machinery • Valid drivers license required

Position Description

USA Football, the sport’s national governing body on youth and amateur levels, hosts more than 100 football training events annually offering education for coaches and game officials, skill development for players and resources for youth football league commissioners. The independent non-profit also manages U.S. national teams within the sport for international competitions.

Endowed by the NFL and NFLPA in 2002 through the NFL Youth Football Fund, USA Football leads the development of youth, high school, and international amateur football.  Among those on USA Football’s board of directors are NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and former Washington Redskins running back Brian Mitchell.
