Digital Managing Editor - Atlanta Falcons Football Club, LLC (Flowery Branch, GA)

Position Summary

The Digital Managing Editor will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of, including daily editorial and written coverage of the team. This position will be responsible for developing and evolving the editorial calendar while working closely with the Director of Digital Media and VP, AMBSE Media Group to ensure that content on the website meets (and exceeds) the interests of readers. He/she will suggest story ideas, assign articles and keep the staff on schedule as required. The Digital Managing Editor will also be responsible for teaching and developing team members to become stronger storytellers.

  • Works with digital media producers and beat reporters to establish football credibility with readers.
  • Establishes strong working relationships with football coaches and personnel staff.
  • Evaluate site and content metrics on a regular basis to ensure growth of key analytics over time.
  • Creates regular written content, including columns, that generate interest and traffic to
  • Responsible for processes, practices and frequency that lead to daily reader habits.
  • Determines the importance of articles and content hierarchy on the front page.
  • Assists in developing content ideas that promote the business interests and objectives of the Atlanta Falcons.

 Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in journalism or related field, particularly in football.
  • Bachelor’s Degree

 Required Skills

  • Ability to manage staff in the on-time completion and delivery of projects
  • Experience posting content in website CMS tools
  • Proficient in Microsoft word or similar word processor
  • Graphics software knowledge a plus
  • Strong writing and storytelling ability

The Atlanta Falcons are a professional American football club and member of the National Football League (NFL).  The Falcons compete in the NFL’s NFC South Division. The team currently plays their home games at the Georgia Dome in downtown Atlanta, but will begin play in the new Atlanta stadium in 2017. The team’s headquarters and practice facilities are located at a 50-acre site in Flowery Branch, Georgia.  The Falcons’ NFL expansion franchise was awarded in 1965.  Under current owner Arthur Blank’s leadership, the Falcons have become one of the League’s premier teams on and off the field.

Digital and social media are indispensable and central components when authentically connecting to our fan base, both locally and nationally. As part of the AMBSE Media Group, the Atlanta Falcons Football Content Producer and Beat Writer is responsible for creating with daily football specific editorial and packaged content for Falcons’ digital and social channels, including the team’s official website, microsites, app and social channels.

This position is responsible for creating unique and innovative stories / content to help elevate the Atlanta Falcons brand, team and staff. He/she will be responsible for helping to create, manage and execute a robust and aggressive editorial calendar for digital / web and social platforms from concept to execution, as well as play a critical role in elevating our KPI metrics.

This high-profile, fast-paced and challenging opportunity requires strong leadership and organization skills by helping to create a clear football story calendar, integrated vision, and detailed long and short term strategy around our brand and team. He/she will be responsible for bringing innovative thinking to the team while managing deliverables in an efficient, timely manner. He/she will be responsible for helping to define our voice while collaborating with other team members to create content that is inspiring and entertaining for Falcons fans, ultimately driving business results.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Help create and manage detailed, integrated editorial calendar for web, app and social platforms
  • Drive football editorial vision, voice and strategy to enhance fan experience across all digital and social platforms
  • Help shape and define youthful Falcons football voice and perspective
  • Drive integrated content ideation from concept to completion across all platforms
  • Write unique, compelling short and long form stories / editorial covering Falcons related activities both on and off the field. Focus will be on covering the Atlanta Falcons brand, team, practices, games, individual players and coaching staff. This includes, but not limited to conducting player and coach interviews, covering practice and games, staying up to speed on NFL and college football related news, etc. May require some travel
  • This position is responsible for aggressively increasing KPI metrics
  • Serve as editor across all web, app and social channels
  • Create and publish photo galleries
  • Ensure integration with all Atlanta Falcons departments including communications, marketing and community relations leaders across the Blank Family of Businesses
  • Link site metrics to overall communications and brand metrics for evaluation of strategy versus execution

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Four-year degree
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience in journalism, media, editorial newsroom, or related field

Required Skills

  • Strong journalism and editorial skills including proven success driving metrics and engagement within digital / social media platforms
  • Ability to meet aggressive editorial deadlines
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign, etc. Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS is helpful
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a high-paced, demanding professional setting
  • Back end technical / developer knowledge for digital / web and social mediums. Prefer knowledge of NFL CMS platform, but not necessary
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects and teams
  • Experience with professional or collegiate sports is required

Social Content Designer - Cleveland Browns (Berea, OH)


The Social Content Designer will play a key role in advancing the Browns’ digital efforts. Working in unison with Creative Services, they will adhere to brand standards and produce content that promotes consistency across all Browns’ platforms. They will use their graphic and digital design skills to build assets for Browns’ website, app, advertising, and social media platforms. This position must be able to quickly turn around quality artwork, to meet the real-time demands of social media. They will also perform website updates and assist with other projects. On game days, they will assist with all aspects of digital operations.  This position may entail occasional travel and will serve an important role in the Browns digital, social, marketing and branding efforts.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design of original creative elements including but not limited to:
    • Social media graphics, infographics, illustrations, animations, & wallpapers
    • Build animated gifs, Instagram stories, Snapchat designs and other social design trends
    • Assist in social video development
    • Photo design work including building photo galleries
    • digital assets and advertisements creation (backgrounds, banners, etc.)

  • Preferred but not required:
